Thank you for purchasing an Amen Watch. The pages that follow contain the instructions on how to set and correctly care for your new watch and enjoy years of problem-free operation.

CARE AND MAINTENANCE

QUICK GUIDE TO SETTING THE WATCH

1. The setting crowns can have two in/out positions (#1 - #2) for watches that do not feature a calendar or three in/out positions (#1 - #2 - #3) for watches with calendar (day/date). 2. Highly water resistant watches (100 m or more) often feature a screw-in crown which must be unscrewed before setting the watch and screwed in again when setting is complete.

SETTING WATCHES WITH ONLY 2 OR 3 HANDS (TWO-POSITION CROWN)

Pull the crown out to position #2. Turn the crown to set the hands to the desired time. Press the crown in again to return it to position #1. SETTING A WATCH WITH A PRINTED CALENDAR (3-POSITION CROWN)
1. Pull the crown out to position #3. Turn the crown to move the hands forward. When the hands pass 12:00, check the date. If the date changes, the watch is reading midnight. Adjust the hands to set A.M. or P.M. Press the crown in again to return it to position #1. 2. To set the calendar quickly, pull the crown out to position #2. The second hand will continue to advance. Turn the crown in one direction to set the desired date or in the opposite direction if the watch features a display for the day of the week. Once set, press the crown in to return it to position #1.

NOTE

Never set the day/date between 9:00 p.m. and 4:00 a.m. The setting would be compromised by the movement of the change mechanism and would have to be repeated later.

SETTINGS AND USE OF MOST AMEN WATCHES WITH CRONOGRAPH

1. Follow the afore-mentioned instructions for setting the time and calendar (if present). 2. Check that the hands of the chronograph are set to 12:00. If not, pull the crown out to position #3 to set the chronograph’s second hand, then repeatedly press the button located at 2:00 (A) so the hand will advance in the right direction. Some chronographs also feature a 0-60 adjustable minute hand. If needed, press the button located at 4:00 (B) to set the minute hand in the correct position. Once the hands are set, press the crown in to return it to position #1.
3. To start the chronograph, press once on the button located at 2:00 (A). The second hand will start counting. To stop the chronograph, simply press the same button again. 4. To reset the chronograph, press once on the button located at 4:00 (B).

SETTING WATCHES WHERE THE CALENDAR IS DISPLAYED ON A SUBDIAL

If the watch features subdials numbered 1 to 31 and with the days of the week, proceed as follows: 1. Pull the crown out to position #3. Turn the crown to move the hands forward. The date changes at midnight and, immediately after, the day of the week also changes. Continue to advance the hands UNTIL THE DAY HAND REACHES THE EXACT DAY. At this point, adjust the hands on the correct time while also setting A.M. or P.M. Press the crown in to return it to position #1. 2. To set the date quickly, pull the crown out to position #2. The second hand will continue to advance. Slowly turn the crown to set the correct date. Press the crown in again to return it to position #1.

FOR AUTOMATIC MECHANICAL WATCHES

The watch must be wound at least six or seven times before it can be worn, after which daily activity should be sufficient to guarantee operation even at night, when it is not worn. If normal daily activity is not enough, from time to time wind the watch manually. To keep the watch perfectly efficient, we recommend having it periodically cleaned and lubricated. Just like for mechanical watches, it is not possible to guarantee the absolute precision of a quartz timepiece. Any references to batteries do not apply to automatic watches.

INFORMATION ON THE POWER CELL

The new quartz watch comes with a fresh power cell designed to provide maximum reliability for approximately one year, if used under normal conditions. If the power cell is not replaced before it is depleted, the watch will stop. The mechanism will not suffer damage. In any case, when the cell is depleted, it must be removed as soon as possible to avoid any leakage. Never leave the watch idle with a depleted cell in it. The watch must be taken to an authorised Amen dealer to replace the power cell. To ensure top performance, use a suitable power cell. Note: while the crown is still in “OUT” position, the movement and the hands stop. Only the quartz crystal will continue to vibrate, using very little energy. If the watch is left idle for a certain period, remember to leave the crown in “OUT” position to extend the battery life.

“DEEP-DIVE“ LIMITED WARRANTY

Deep-dive watches are subject to all of the conditions and the duration of the Amen watch limited warranty, and are provided with an additional warranty against water infiltration when immersed to the depth shown on the dial, provided that the crystal and the crown remain intact and the case has not been opened. To preserve the water-resistance qualities of the watch, in particular for cases involving one's safety, the timepiece must be inspected and maintained on a regular basis and repairs must be made by a competent technician, when necessary. Furthermore, it is also best to avoid handling the crown while diving.

WATER RESISTANCE

We remind you to always check the back of the case for the watch's degree of water resistance. The degree of resistance determines the guidelines, described in the table below, for correct exposure to water and serves to avoid damaging the watch's inner components. To ensure that water does not seep into the watch damaging it, proceed as follows:
do not adjust the crown while the watch is in contact with water; ensure that the crown in "CLOSED" position before coming in contact with water; for watches with screw-in crowns, check that it is completely tight before coming in contact with water; we advise against exposure to extreme atmospheres and spa waters, hot water, saunas and Turkish baths; avoid prolonged exposure to salt water and, after contact with it, rinse the watch with fresh water.
